November 2009 - REACH - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals
Reach is a new European Community Regulation on chemicals and their safe use. It deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances. The new regulation entered into force on 1st June 2008.
REACH introduces an obligation to send a registration to the European Chemicals Agency for chemical substances on their own or in preparations, which are manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities greater than or equal to 1 tonne per year by any company in the European Union.
Between 1st June and 1st December 2008 all EU manufacturers and importers need to provide information on each existing substance for pre-registration with the European Chemicals Agency.
Datum Alloys has already pre-registered all necessary substances, none of which are of high concern and we do not see any problems in maintaining supply to our customers.
